Outdoorsman Review:

(1/3/11) The review for WI’s IR5 was provided by Shaun S. from Pittsfield, MA. Thanks Shaun for the review.

THIS CAM HAS HELPED TREMENDOUSLY THIS YEAR. IT IS SO GREAT TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A CAMERA IN THE WOODS CAPTURING PICTURES OF THE UNKOWN WITHOUT ANY EFFORT FROM US HUNTERS. THE WILD GAME TRAIL CAM WAS AN INEXPENSIVE CAMERA THAT STILL HAD QUALITY OF THE HIGHER PRICED CAMERAS.

I NOTICED WITH THIS CAMERA I WAS GETTING SHOTS OUT TO 40 YARDS AND THAT WAS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE. THE CAMERA TAKES A NICE CRISP PICTURE AND IS PRETTY QUICK TO CAPTURE THE PHOTO. ITS BATTERY LIFE IS GREAT AND THE INFRARED IS AWESOME TO HAVE BECAUSE IT DOES NOT SPOOK ANYTHING. I WOULD GIVE THIS TRAIL CAM A 7 OUT OF 10. ITS GREAT FOR THE LOW INCOME HUNTER, YET STILL HAS FEATURES OF THE HIGHER PRICED TOP END CAMERAS.

PS AND IT HELPED ME BAG MY FIRST BOW BUCK A MONSTER 9 !!!

Outdoorsman Review:

(1/3/11) The review for the X6c was provided by David M. from Ocean Springs, MS. Thanks David for this very detailed review.

After having much trouble with a competitor’s trail cams, I purchased 2 of the Wildgame Innovations X6c trail cams to give them a try. I must say, I personally am very happy with their performance.

The image quality is very good, both daytime color and nighttime IR. Daytime photos, color and clarity is very good. The nighttime IR photos are of course black and white but again, very clear. The field of view is also very good.

The motion sensor also seems to be adequate although I did have a couple deer where I only got the back half. To test it out I walked through the “trigger” area at different speeds and found that the camera operated great each time I walked through so all I can figure is that the deer was moving at a pretty good rate. I am very satisfied with the sensor.

Ease of setup and ease of use is VERY easy and understandable. This to me is one of the most important aspects. I would pay a little more for a camera that is a little easier to setup and operate.

The only negative I have found with this camera is that picture quality during that 10-15 minutes each morning and evening when it’s too dark to take a good quality color photo and too light to get a good quality IR pic….the camera seems as though that both functions may have operated during this short period for the pictures taken as the (color) pictures were very whitewashed and way overexposed to be practically undiscernable. As I said though, this happens only for about a 10-15 minute period after daylight but prior to sunup as pics before and after this period were very good.

As for oveall value, price vs. quality, I would say these cameras are very good.

This camera offers clear photos – color during the day and infrared at night – up to 5.0 megapixels, depending on which of the three settings you choose. The D-55IR game camera also delivers quality video with its two resolution settings. Daytime capture can be set for 5, 15 or 30 seconds, while the 10 second shots at night will help you scout game to find the best spot.

Its rapid response time helps ensure you get the shot right away and the 50-foot flash throw will more than cover the camera’s field of view. The settings allow you to take up to three shots at a time in up to five second intervals – allowing you to detect movement that might be missed in a single shot.

Moultrie made it easy to pass along your digital photos and video; the D-55IR digital game camera can handle up to a 16GB SD card (the kind in many popular point-and-shoot cameras) letting you soak up a season’s worth of audio and video at any setting.

It’s easy to identify game patterns, making sure this game camera imprints an info clip on each shot, showing time, date, temperature, moon phase and even tell you which game camera it is, in case you have more than one. There’s also a USB slot to transfer images and video right from the game camera to computer and a TV out slot.

The D-55IR digital game camera is designed for the outdoors. The D-55IR camera’s camouflage design blends into the surroundings, while the casing is weather-resistant and air-tight. The camera is easy to attach to a poll or tree using the mounting strap (Moultrie® recommends 36” high).

Outdoorsman Review:

The review for the Primos TRUTH Cam 35 was provided by Mike C. from somewhere in the US. Thanks Mike for your review of this game cam.

I have purchased one of these cameras and have likes and dislikes. The price is right and the picture quality is good. Awesome daytime pics,..Night time pics of course are black and white and at times blurry.

My major dislike is that the camera is loud and has spooked deer. By loud I mean the shutter on the cam itself. I have a lot of pics of deer looking straight at the cam and many more of the deer running from it. It seems like the deer eventually get used to it but it could only take that one time to scare a big guy away.

For the money I would rate this a 4 out of 5.

Manufacturer’s Specs for the TRUTH Cam 35:

This may be the easiest to operate camera ever developed without sacrificing performance.  Simply load 4 “D” cell batteries, insert your SD card and slide the switch to photo or video and this camera is ready to go. With 3.0-MP resolution and a 35-LED bank that allows quality image capture out to 40 ft – in all light conditions, day or night – this affordable infrared scouting camera gives you everything you need to prepare for a great hunt. 1.5 second trigger speed (0.3 second when camera is not in sleep mode). This camera features a 40 ft. extended night range.

  • Easy to understand quick instructions are printed on camera door for easy reference
  • Captures photos or video
  • Molded security cable hole through case provides theft prevention
  • Supports up to 8 GB SD card, for months worth of images

  • Up to 30 feet Infrared Flash.
  • Up to 30 feet PIR Sensor.
  • LCD display showing time, date, temperature, # photos taken, & #photos remaining.

The IR2 comes equipped with:

  • External power port
  • Bungee cords
  • USBV cable
  • Driver
  • Instructional CD
  • Instructional booklet

Outdoorsman Review:

I have been using this camera for about 3 weeks. Daytime pics are better than expected and has a fairly fast trigger speed for a camera under $100.00 and very easy to set up.

The problem comes at night. The IR flash is almost useless beyond 15 feet. There’s a feeder set up 26 feet from the camera and all night and early morning pics are completely black. I would not recommend this camera to anyone based on the night time performance.
