I'm new to bait casters, as I usually use a spinning reel. I wanted more out of my fishing experience, and I needed more of a challenge. I bought this after an in-store demonstration of the how the Twitchin' Bar worked. It seemed gimmicky at first, but for $59.00, it would still cast and reel if the bar was garbage. As it turns out, the Twitchin' Bar is the real deal. Because of the action it gives your bait in the water, it draws fish like flies. The first time using this reel with a Bass Pro Crankin' Stick, I caught a 22.5 inch Largemouth on a Texas rigged (weedless) lizard. I am usually a Shimano man with spinning reels, but I absolutely love this reel and the ease of use. I'm not a pro fisherman by any means. This reel turns fishing into catching. This was money well spent. Thank you Diawa!

Twitching bar is clumsy and fragile. Not real Daiwa quality.
The real looks good out of the box, but the twitching bar mechanism broke in the second time it was used, in a way that impacted the regular reel functions. Living overseas, there`s no Daiwa service over here, so it was not until months later when I thought of o looking up a video on how to fix it. I didn`t find a video on how to fix, but I found one on how to disassemble this reel. I was able to open it and remove the part that connected the twitching bar to the rest of the real, so it is now inoperant... still, now that the reel is working again, it is actually OK... too bad I had to cripple it in order for it to work. One star to the reel, but Zero stars to the Twitching bar thing.

I was intrigued by the Twitchin' Bar, but felt even if I didn't use the bar that much a Daiwa at this price was worth trying it out. I find Texas-rigs are the best for the lakes I fish, and the bar has proved to be a game changer! It allows me to fish one-handed from a kayak using my other arm to paddle and stay in position. The six-inch pick-up on each twitch gives my bait just the right action, and I've often gotten one-handed strikes. It spoils me for other reels. I use a standard baitcaster with another T-rig bait, and it drives me nuts, not being able to retrieve with one hand. Try it, you'll like it, even if you don't use a kayak!
