Shimano Saros 1000FB Front Drag Spinning Reel
By Charles Lagreca
I have a 3000 size Saros that is a great all-around reel. I wanted something lighter for trout so I bought a 1000 size. It has a much nicer feel for 3 or 4 lb fish. I use both reels at the same time but the 1000 is clearly the more enjoyable one. Of course the lighter rod I use with it has a lot to do with that.
I believe the Saros is the sweet spot between very expensive and lower quality models.
I'm now sold on Shimano because of a recent experience with one of their rods. I crushed it in a door jamb. That was a Monday. I sent it off to Shimano and the following Thursday there was a brand new, no charge rod on my door step.

Wonderful reel
By SMF
I purchased the Shimano Saros 3000 for trout and walleye. The reel is the nicest I've owned. The mechanisms are smooth and it handles large (20 inch) trout well. The reel is smooth and the drag is easy to release or tighten. I've had the reel for the summer and fish just about every weekend, so I've used it many times and it performs beautifully.I would receomend this reel for serious fishers. Its worth the price.

Good Reel
By D. Oppenheim
I really like this reel. It seems to be a definite step up from the typical reel you buy already on the rod at the big department stores. Feels well built and really smooth while casting and reeling in. Had this for years now and still holding up. Even resisted the extreme heat while sitting in my garage in the desert.
